Effingham continued their winning ways as they went on to win 64-28 over Mahomet-Seymour. With those 64 points sets a new school record for most points in a game, a record they just set last year (63 against Lincoln).
Early on both teams traded 1 yard QB sneaks between Landon Wolfe and Dawson Finch that made it 7-6 Mahomet. Then Effingham would score 28 unanswered points throughout the 2nd Quarter and and start of the 3rd to take a 34-7 lead early on in the 3rd. Effingham would end up scoring 30 points in the 3rd quarter they scored thru the air a Wolfe- Ballman 71 yard screen pass, on the ground 15 yarder from Ballman. on special teams a blocked punt in the end zone recovered for a safety, and on defense a pick 6 by Luke Spencer after 3 quarters it was 57-14 in favor of Effingham.
Finch and Veldman would add rushing touchdowns but Kendall Ballman would put a cap on his outstanding night scoring his 4th touchdown of night taking a kickoff all the way back for a TD midway thru the 4th Quarter. Landon Wolfe would also have a good night scoring 4 TDs of his own 1 on the ground and 3 thru the air (55 yards to Duncan, 30 yards to Shackelford, 71 yards to Ballman). Effingham now improves to 4-2 overall on the season and 3-1 in the Apollo and Mahomet Seymour drops to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the Apollo. Effingham returns home next week for homecoming against Charleston.
