EFFINGHAM, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Regional Office of Education #3 is offering an informational meeting for potential substitute teachers from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM, October 9, 2018 at Effingham Unit #40 Board Room located at 2803 S. Banker St. Effingham, IL 62401.
This session is free of charge and open to anyone interested in learning more about the requirements to become a substitute teachers.
“School districts in our area are struggling to find substitute teachers. They need highly qualified individuals who would like to fill these positions. In an effort to assist our local school districts, we decided to host this free session,” said Julie Wollerman, Regional Superintendent.
Annette Hartlieb, Assistant Regional Superintendent added, “Participants in the session will learn not only the requirements to become a substitute teacher but also the expectations of most schools for their subs. As a former elementary school building principal I can testify to the importance of dedicated substitute teachers.”

While the session is free, pre-registration is requested.
In addition to providing professional development opportunities for educators, the Regional Office of Education #3 is responsible for many other programs and services for educators and the public.
The ROE operates alternative education programs for junior high school students and high school students in collaboration with the region’s school districts, inspects school buildings, performs compliance monitoring of districts, offers bus driver training, issues work permits to minors, and provides licensing of teachers and administrators, as well as many other state and federally mandated services.
The Regional Office of Education #3 serves schools and the public in Bond, Christian, Effingham, Fayette and Montgomery Counties.
