The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a Flood Warning for Lawrence, Crawford, Jasper, Clark, Richland, Clay, and Effingham Counties until 6:30pm on Saturday.
At 9:31am, Doppler Radar indicated heavy rain that will cause flooding.
Radar estimates that parts of the area have already seen 3-6 inches of rain in the last 6-9 hours.
Additional rainfall amounts of 2-3 inches are possible.
Locations that could experience flooding include Vincennes, Effingham, Olney, Robinson, Flora, Lawrenceville, Marshall, Newton, Sumner, Casey, Altamont, Teutopolis, Oblong, Palestine, Martinsville, Louisville, Clay City, Watson, St.
Francisville and Noble.
This includes Interstate 57 between mile markers 143 and 164, Interstate 70 between mile markers 79 and 104, and between mile markers 128 and 154.
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas and streets, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots.
