Springfield, IL -(Effingham Radio)- People who get a prescription for opioid pain pills in Illinois can now swap it for medical marijuana.
Governor Bruce Rauner yesterday signed a law that allows for people to use marijuana instead of pills like OxyContin, Percocet or Vicodin to treat pain.
The new law seemingly goes much further than a simple swap though.
The new rules allow people to buy medical marijuana while they wait for the state of Illinois to process their marijuana application, and that could translate into a lot more medical marijuana patients.
