EFFINGHAM, IL-(Effingham Radio)-Two people were airlifted following an accident that occurred east of Effingham on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred on I-70 eastbound at milepost 100 at 4:14pm.
The report states that a semi tractor-trailer driven by 38 year old, Moges Befekadu, of Tampa Florida was traveling below the minimum speed limit in the right lane of I-70 e/b at milepost 100.
A semi tractor-trailer driven by 41 year old, Jeremy Wilson, of Yale was traveling behind Befekadu and struck Befekadu’s vehicle in the rear of the trailer.
Befekadu became entrapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle.
Both Befekadu and Wilson were flown to Carle Hospital in Champaign via helicopter for treatment.
Befekadu was cited for driving under the minimum speed of 45mph.
