Du’ane Pleasant, 51, of Effingham Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Du’Ane was born on November 9, 1966, to James and Arlean Pleasant at Provident Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
Du’Ane grew up in the South Shore community of Chicago where he attended school. He graduated from Lindbloom High School in 1985. He attended Alcorn State University in Mississippi and later went on to receive his Degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Grambling State University in Louisiana. While at Alcorn State University he met his beloved wife, Anita Joyce Echols. On April 2, 1994, they were joined together in marriage.
Du’Ane had a passion for automobiles. He took that passion and turned it into Pleasant Auto Repair. He loved good food as well as creating it. Du’ane also loved the outdoors and spending time in nature. He never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a smile. He was a kind, generous, and compassionate man. He touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. The world was a better place because he was in it, and his presence will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 24 years Anita Pleasant; his loving children; Pamela, Dakarai and Deryl, His parents; James and Arlean Pleasant, three grandsons; Parnell, Bryce and Nino, his siblings; Deryl (Cheryl) , Ja’Mese, Jamyee (Dean), and Shevi Aytahniel, and many cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was proceeded in death by his older brother Tyrone Howard Pleasant.
On August 18, 2018, a Celebration of His Life will be held at the open air pavilion located behind the Lake Sara Community Building from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
This casual evening will honor the life of Du’Ane R. Pleasant in the manner in which he lived. Du’Ane loved his family, his friends, his cars, all genres of music, and good barbeque. He never met a stranger and he always left every person he met with a smile. His generosity, compassion, and zest for life made everyone who crossed his path feel special. Du’Ane loved to be outdoors and he loved to laugh. He spread joy wherever he went.
Drinks & snacks will be provided. Dress comfortably and join us for sharing your happiest memories of Du’Ane. He loved a good party and we shall honor him with love, laughter, hugs, a tear or two, and a memorial balloon release. Please join us in showing our love for Du’Ane and emotionally uplifting his family. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
