CLAY COUNTY, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Three people were injured in an accident that occurred in Clay County on Tuesday evening.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred at 5:29pm at the intersection of Kinmundy Road and Bethel Drive.
The report states that a vehicle driven by 29 year old, Jamie N Colclasure, of Edgewood was traveling southbound on Bethel Drive approaching the intersection.
At the same time, a vehicle driven by 43 year old, Gabe L Blair, of Louisville was traveling westbound on Kinmundy Road, approaching the same intersection.
Colclasure disobeyed the stop sign and collided with the Blair vehicle as it was passing.
After impact, the Colclasure vehicle left the roadway to the right, coming to a rest in the ditch; the Blair vehicle left the roadway into the left ditch and rolled over.
Colclasure was airlifted to St John’s Hospital in Springfield and her passenger, 35 year old, Nick McCarty, of Edgewood was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
Blair was taken to the Clay County Hospital.
Charges are pending an investigation.
UPDATE: JULY 25, 2018- Charges have been issued in the accident.
According to a press release from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was on routine patrol and was attempting to locate a person of interest in a recent theft case.
The deputy then located the subject, McCarty, as the passenger in the Colclasure vehicle.
The deputy then attempted to stop the vehicle and Colclasure then allegedly ignored the deputy and began to flee.
The accident then took place.
McCarty has been released from the hospital and is currently incarcerated in the Clay County Jail.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office stated that McCarty was on parole from the IDOC and had warrant from Clay County for failure to appear on the original charge of possession of methamphetamine manufacturing materials, failure to appear warrant in Effingham County for possession of cannabis, an Illinois Department of Corrections warrant for violation of parole and new charges that are pending.
The release states that Colclasure is still receiving medical care and is in the custody of the Sheriff’s Office for aggravated fleeing to elude.
All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
