MATTOON, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Two Mattoon residents were arrested by the Mattoon Police Department recently on multiple offenses.
According to a report from the Mattoon Police Department, officers took 26 year old, Christopher W.C. Tomasello and 21 year old, Samantha D Schwanke into custody on July 5th and July 4th respectively.
The charges allege that on July 4th, Tomasello allegedly solicited and received illicit services from Schwanke in his motor vehicle in the 800 block of South 14th Street.
Tomasello allegedly then failed to pay for the illicit services and lured Schwanke to the bed of his truck where he then drove away recklessly, attempting to throw her out of the vehicle.
A physical altercation then occurred between Tomasello and Schwanke, at which point he struck her with the body of a metal wrench and Shwanke allegedly stabbed him with a knife, both causing non-life threatening injuries.
Schwanke went to the MPD to self-report the incident, where she was taken into custody for prostitution and was given a notice to appear in Coles County Court.
The report states that an additional charge of Aggravated Battery was sent to the State’s Attorney’s Office for Schwanke.
Tomasello was arrested for Patronizing a Prostitute, Aggravated Battery with a Weapon, and Reckless Driving.
He was taken to the Coles County Jail.
