Fayette County-(Effingham Radio)- Two people were injured in a automobile accident that occurred in Fayette County on Interstate 70, at approximately 3:19 PM, Wednesday, June 20, 2018.
Preliminary investigative details indicate that a red 2010 Ford Sedan, driven by 24 year old, Kathleen Roach’Burford, of Brownstown, IL was traveling eastbound, on I-70, at milepost 64.
A white 2010 Nissan Sentra, driven by 23 year old, Amber Wenthe, of Watson, IL was traveling directly in front of Roach’Burford in the same eastbound lane.
All eastbound traffic had slowed due to a large multiple vehicle crash in the west bound lanes of I-70.
As the vehicle driven by Wenthe began to slow, the Roach’Burford vehicle failed to reduce speed and rear-ended Wenthe.
Upon impact the Roach’Burford vehicle went off the roadway, to the right, down the grassy ditch embankment.
The Wenthe vehicle went off the roadway to the left into the grassy center median.
Kathleen Roach’Burford was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
Both drivers were taken to Fayette County Hospital for treatment.
We will try to update any further details pending a further investigation.
