The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Northeastern Clinton County, Southeastern Bond County, Northern Marion County, and Southern Fayette County until 2:00am.
At 8:01pm, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area with up to three inches having already fallen.
Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.
Locations that will experience flooding include Salem, Vandalia, St. Elmo, Kinmundy, Brownstown, Mulberry Grove, Patoka, Tamalco, Farina, Omega, Stephen Forbes Station, Shobonier, Fairman, Boulder, Pleasant Mound, Tonti, La Clede, Pittsburg, Iuka and Keyesport.
This includes the following highways Interstate 70 in Illinois near exit 52, and between exits 68 and 76 and Interstate 57 in Illinois between exits 127 and 135.
This also includes Carlyle Lake Recreational Area.
