Springfield, IL -(Effingham Radio) – Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner says he will sign the new state budget, and he will likely do it soon.
The Illinois House yesterday approved a new 38-and-a-half billion-dollar spending plan.
The governor says it is balanced and doesn’t include any tax increases.
But critics say the new budget spends more than ever before, and doesn’t do enough to pay down Illinois’ six billion-dollar backlog of unpaid bills or the state’s pension debt.
