Marshall, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Three female occupants were injured in two vehicle accident that occurred on I -70 approximately 4 miles West of Marshall on Thursday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred on I-70 westbound at milepost 143 at 9:50am.
The report states that a vehicle driven by 45 year old , Suzette Ann Ashbaugh, of Ellsworth, Kansas was traveling westbound on I-70 when she left the roadway to the right, entering the shoulder and striking the rear of an IDOT truck that was parked along the shoulder.
Following the impact with the IDOT truck, the vehicle driven by Ashbaugh veered into the ditch on the north side of I-70 where it came to rest.
The driver and front seat passenger, Suzette Ann Ashbaugh, and 28 year old, Kelsea G Cline, of Columbus, Ohio were airlifted to Carle Hospital.
The backseat passenger, 24 year old, Joann R Ashbaugh, of Ellsworth, Kansas was transported to Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN.
Charges are pending an investigation.
UPDATE: 3:30PM
We have received an update from the Illinois State Police District 12.
According to the update, Cline succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at Carle Hospital in Urbana.
Additionally, Suzette Ashbaugh has been cited for improper lane usage and failure to yield to a stationary authorized emergency vehicle (Scott’s Law).
