CENTRALIA, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Two people were injured in an accident that occurred southeast of Centralia on Thursday.
According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred at Walnut Hill Road, approximately 2 miles southeast of Centralia, at 2:22pm.
The release stated that a vehicle driven by 35 year old, Alicia L Hodge, of Walnut Hill was traveling eastbound on Walnut Hill Road, just west of Woods Lane, when she ran off the roadway to the right.
The vehicle then struck a mailbox, culvert, embankment, and two trees before it came to a rest in the ditch.
Hodge and a juvenile passenger in the vehicle were taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
Hodge was cited for reckless driving, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage, child endangerment, improper child restraint, and a seat belt violation.
Additional charges are pending an investigation.
