CHICAGO, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Illinois is facing a lawsuit over the months-long wait to enroll in the state’s Medicaid program.
Lawyers for a number of groups, including the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, yesterday filed the suit to try and get a judge to order Illinois to decide if someone is eligible for Medicaid as close to the required 45 day review window as possible.
The coalition’s Tanya Gassenheimer says delays at Illinois’ Department of Human Services are threatening the survival of her clients and are unacceptable.
