Paul Sanders, 84, of Windsor, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018, at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the Windsor Christian Church with Pastor Patrick Fahey officiating. Burial will take place in the Windsor Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Garrett-Baldridge Post #725 of Windsor. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at the Windsor Christian Church. Masonic rites will be performed at 8:00 p.m. by the Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 of Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to the Windsor Christian Church or the American Heart Association. Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor is assisting the family.
Paul was born August 4, 1933, in Lakewood, Illinois, the son of Henry and Stella (Marrow) Sanders. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War era. He married Lela “KoRena” Milligan on May 6, 1953, in Seymour, Missouri, and she preceded him in death on April 17, 2016. He worked most of his life as a carpenter, was superintendent of the Windsor Water Department, was among the first EMT’s in Windsor and the Windsor Police Department. Paul was a member of the Windsor Christian Church and the American Legion Garrett-Baldrige Post #725 of Windsor. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan who enjoyed woodworking, fishing and cherished time spent with family.
Paul is survived by his children: Brenda (Tracy) Floyd of Windsor, Lionel (Nancy) Sanders of Windsor and Howard (Sandy) Sanders of Sullivan; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers: Leo (Nancy) Sanders and Elmer (Ruth Ann) Sanders all of Windsor; three sisters: Edith (Bob) Banning of Shelbyville, Alice Hardin of Loxa and Nell Sutton of Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Stella; wife, KoRena and two brothers, Lester and Roy.
