WASHINGTON, D.C. -(Effingham Radio)- An appeal request by imprisoned former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is turned down for a second time by the U.S. Supreme Court.
The justices did not comment during today’s ruling.
The decision allows Blagojevich’s convictions of selling the state Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama and trying to extort a children’s hospital for contributions to stand.
The court rejected an earlier appeal in 2016. Blagojevich is scheduled to be released from federal prison in 2024.
