CENTRALIA, IL-(EFFINGHAM RADIO)- A protest occurred outside the Centralia City Hall during a recent City Council meeting.
According to WJBD, “A group calling for Justice in the unsolved August 2015 murder of Dustin Rhynes held a noisy protest outside Centralia City Hall during Monday night’s meeting”.
Remarks were given at the City Council meeting by Mayor Tom Ashby and City Manager, Dan Ramey, according to WJBD.
Mayor Ashby stated, “This was a good venue to be reminded of the injustice they feel has happened to their family, but I don’t believe the problem is here at City Hall. Getting people to come forward is what it takes for these types of things to get solved, but again I applaud their efforts.”
City Manager Dan Ramey stated, “You take 15-18 people and you knock out 90% of the problems either directly or indirectly, in their retaliating against each other and it’s very discouraging for the police department especially when people just refuse to talk. That’s the biggest issue and some of it has to be fear, some of it is they just don’t want to be a snitch”.
We reached out to Centralia Mayor Tom Ashby regarding the protest but he was unavailable to comment.
