ALTAMONT, IL-(EFFINGHAM RADIO)- The Altamont Board of Education made personnel moves at their meeting on Monday.
During the meeting, the Board heard from the Altamont Grade School Principal and the Altamont High School Principal.
Mr Hill addressed the Board regarding reviewing of applications for the 1st grade and Junior High English positions and upcoming important dates.
These include the PTO Speghetti Dinner and Spring Carnival on April 20th, the ESSA Stakeholder meeting and AGS Art/Music and Band Program on May 3rd, the AGS Athletic Awards program on May 15th, and the 8th Grade Promotion on May 16th.
Mr Tkachuk then addressed the Board about upcoming important dates.
These are the Parent/Teacher Advisory on April 17th, the Jr/Sr High Spring Fine Arts Festival on April 29th, the Senior Awards on May 2nd, the Prom on May 5th, the Seniors’ Last Day on May 11th, Baccalaureate on May 13th, Finals on May 17th and 18th, and Commencement on May 19th.
The Superintendent then addressed the Board regarding the USDA Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant.
The unofficial minutes from the Board meeting state, “We have received our award letter and should be receiving the grant packet soon. Mrs Mullen and Mr Niehaus have been researching large interactive screens and I have gotten final pricing from Polycom for equipment. At this time, Altamont HS and Hudsonville HS will be the two districts installing the equipment for launching shared courses between the two schools. Urbana HS and Oregon HS will both be added for the 2019-2020 school year. USDA just opened the grant for the next cycle yesterday and we plan to write for additional funding”.
The Board then took action on five items of old business.
These include approving the Mystery Science Curriculum for AGS, employing two part-time (seasonal) custodial helpers, and authorizing administration to advertise for full-time grounds/custodial floater..
The Board then made moves regarding personnel in Closed Session and in New Business.
These are the employment of Tyler Niebrugge as the HS Business teacher/IT coordinator, Peggy Bueker as HS Assistant Principal/Athletic Director, Dennis Scott as a crossing guard, and Eileen Stuckemeyer as a cook.
