SPRINGFIELD, IL -(EFFINGHAM RADIO)-Don’t just raise the gas tax.
That’s the advice from researchers at the Competitive Enterprise Institute.
They warn that Illinois should try to lower the cost of new road and bridge projects first.
The warning comes after the Illinois Economic Policy Institute told state lawmakers last week that Illinois needs to hike the state’s gas tax by 85-cents per gallon to generate enough money to pay for the state’s backlog of road and bridge construction.
