Effingham, IL –(Effingham Radio)– Our listening area is forecasted to experience severe weather this afternoon and evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, much of southeast Illinois is under an enhanced risk for severe weather.
While some stronger storms can occur as far north as I-55, the main threat is for the area of Shelbyville to Champaign and southward.
The primary concern for this system is damaging winds and large hail, though a brief tornado touchdown could be possible.
According to the National Weather Service, “Along and east of I-57, mid to late afternoon will be the most favored time for any severe weather.”
