Farina, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Two people were injured in an accident that occurred south of Farina on Sunday afternoon.
According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred on I-57 southbound at milepost 129, six miles south of Farina at 4:18pm on Sunday.
The release states that a vehicle driven by 36 year old, Ryan D Whigham, of Hazel Crest was traveling southbound on I-57 when he left the roadway to the left and entered the center median.
Whigham overcorrected, reentered the southbound lanes of traffic, and then exited the roadway to the right, striking a guard rail.
Whigham and his passenger, 33 year old, Ericka C Kemple, of Chicago were transported to Salem Township Hospital and were later transported to St Louis University Hospital for treatment.
Whigham was cited for possession of a stolen vehicle, obstruction of justice, obstructing identification, driving while license is suspended/revoked, improper lane usage, and unsafe equipment.
Kemple was cited for obstructing justice and obstructing identification.
