Effingham, Ill – Subway® began its partnership with Land of Lincoln Honor Flight to help raise funds to honor local veterans who bravely served our country.
Throughout the month of April, Subway® restaurants across Champaign, Springfield, Decatur Ill. and surrounding areas will encourage customers to donate $1 or more at the register to help send veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials.
Land of Lincoln Honor Flight, Inc., located in Springfield, Illinois, is an established non-profit hub of the Honor Flight Network. Honor Flight Network is a nation- wide, non-profit group created solely to honor America’s veterans by transporting them to Washington, D.C. to visit war memorials honoring them.
The Honor Flight Network gives top priority to World War II survivors and veterans who may be terminally ill.
All expenses for this one day trip are the sole responsibility of Land of Lincoln Honor Flight including the flight, ground transportation, meals, snacks and beverages for veterans, so local fundraising partners like Subway® are an important factor in making these flights happen.
In 2017, Subway® restaurants in Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan worked together to raise over $83,000 to send nearly 90 local veterans to Washington, D.C.
This year, local Subway® restaurants aim to send over 100 veterans.
To make a donation to honor local veterans for their sacrifice to our country, visit their website: http://www.landoflincolnhonorflight.org/#/Fundraising or visit your local Subway® restaurant and donate $1 or more at the register during the month of April.
