Effingham, Ill. – Effingham County ‘s forward-thinking Vision 2020 group has had a significant influence on Effingham County for almost fifteen years.
As the year 2020 approaches, a community group has convened to continue the original work of Vision 2020, but to look now toward 2030, going by the name Impact 2030. Creative Learning Culture is one of the impact area teams under Impact 2030.
The team hosted its second lunch and learn on March 22 at the Effingham Public Library to bring together all those in Effingham County who provide lifelong learning experiences to others, who cultivate creativity, inspire innovation and are passionate about personal growth, to share their organization’s mission.
At this lunch and learn, survey data was revealed to better understand Effingham and the needs and wants of the citizens. Survey results featured were:
-
Survey of Life and Work in Effingham County;
-
Libraries Transforming Communities Survey;
-
Effingham Recycles Community Survey; and
-
Community Health Needs Assessment.
We are thrilled to have organizations wanting to present at the next lunch and learn and look forward to expanding our reach.
Participant feedback has been very complimentary with participants identifying some of the biggest positives of the events as “it is great to see so many segments taking action steps to make a better community” and “it’s so nice to know there is a group listening to the public on the areas they feel need addressed or improved.”
They appreciate knowing about “the community expanding the vision into the future.”
The next Lunch and Learn is scheduled for September 27 from 12:00-1:30 at the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library. Registration is required, but the event is free. You can register on the library’s website at http://engagedpatrons.org/
