Effingham, Ill. (Mattoon, Ill.) – On Thursday, March 22, residents of Mattoon and surrounding communities have a unique opportunity to show their gratitude for the unselfish actions of MHS teacher Angela McQueen on September 20, 2017, by participating in a 24-hour day of giving.
Supported by an on-line format and social media campaign, MHS School teachers, alumni, parents and community members will come together in an effort to raise $50,000 to establish the Angela McQueen Citizenship Award, an annual scholarship honoring this hometown hero.
On Thursday, contributions to the Angela McQueen Citizenship Award can be made online by visiting www.enrichingourcommunity.org/McQueen, by calling 217.342.4988, or made in-person at the Cromwell Radio office located at 209 Lake Land Blvd, Mattoon.
Every gift on this day makes a direct impact, creating an opportunity for students who may not be able to consider a college education without a scholarship while, at the same time, honoring one of our finest hometown heroes!
Residents may tune in to 101.3 WMCI, 104.3 the Party, Classic Rock 92.1 the Axe and Victory 103.9 for live updates and giveaways throughout the day.
Every hour, individuals who have made a donation are entered into a drawing for a variety of prize incentives!
Even more exciting is the seven-day vacation for two that all donors in the 24-hour period are eligible to win!
The Mattoon High School Scholarship Endowment advisory committee thanks the following businesses and individuals who have sponsored prizes for this Day of Giving: Pilson Auto Center, 19th Street DQ Grill & Chill, Bourbon Street Steakhouse, Exhale Studios, DeBuhr’s Feed & Seed, Cracker Barrel, KC Summers, Villa Pizza, Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Jackie Metzger — Lula Roe Consultant, Rural King, and Olive Garden.
