Two people were injured in an accident that occurred in Olney late Friday afternoon.
According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred at the intersection of Route 130 and West Butler Street at 4:15pm on Friday. The release states that a vehicle driven by 53 year old, William R Derler, of Olney was traveling eastbound on West Butler street and had stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with Route 130. At the same time, a vehicle driven by 78 year old, Carl J Kessler, of Olney was traveling northbound on Route 130 at the same intersection. The Derler vehicle then began to travel across Route 130, entering the path of the Kessler vehicle. The Kessler vehicle then struck the Derler vehicle on the passenger side. The Derler vehicle then rolled onto its driver’s side, with both vehicles coming to a rest in the middle of the intersection. Derler and his passenger, 22 year old, Colden Derler, of Dundas sustained injuries and were taken to Carle Richland Memorial Hospital for treatment.
William Derler was cited for failure to yield at an intersection and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
