Effingham, Ill. (Olney, Ill.) – With the Republican Primary one week away, a group of respected Republican leaders are endorsing David Reis for State Representative in the 109th District.
Governor Jim Edgar, Congressman John Shimkus and Senator John O. Jones have issued statements of support for Reis in the hotly-contested race.
“I’m supporting David Reis for State Representative,” Governor Edgar said.
“When I served as your governor, I saw that a strong State Representative can get things done in Springfield, even in difficult times. For Southern Illinois, David Reis is that strong voice. We can trust David to stick up for Southern Illinois because he has the common sense we so desperately need.”
Congressman John Shimkus has worked closely with Representative Reis to meet the needs of constituents in their shared communities.
“David Reis is a true public servant who knows his district,” Congressman Shimkus said. “He works to make sure his constituents get answers to their questions, including working with my office on federal issues. David is from here and lives here. He knows you, and you know him. Let’s keep David Reis as our state representative.”
Retired State Senator John O. Jones served with Rep. Reis in the Illinois General Assembly.
“For me, the choice is clear. David Reis is a proven conservative voice we can trust to fight for our families. David has always been a strong voice for Southern Illinois against the liberal agenda of the Chicago Machine. Trust me when I say David Reis is no friend of Mike Madigan.
We can count on David to stand up for our Southern Illinois values,” said Senator Jones.
“I am honored and grateful to receive the endorsements of these three great Republican leaders,” said Rep. Reis. “I cannot thank Governor Edgar, Congressman Shimkus and Senator Jones enough for their support and encouragement, which means so much to me and my family. Together, we will continue to fight for Southern Illinois families.”
