A Kell man was killed in an accident that occurred in Kell on Friday night.
According to a crash report from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred at the intersection of Route 37 and Kell Road at 5:54pm. The report states that a pickup being driven by 45 year old, William Jones, of Kell was traveling southbound on Route 37 approaching the intersection with Kell Road. At the same time, a dirtbike driven by 40 year old, Norman Boxx, of Kell was traveling northbound on Route 37 approaching the same intersection. Jones attempted to conduct a left-hand turn early and entered the northbound lane where both vehicles collided. The vehicles came to a rest in the northbound lane. Boxx was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt Vernon where he succumbed to his injuries. Jones was cited for improper turn.
The investigation into this crash continues as the Illinois State Police District 12 is conducting a traffic crash reconstruction.
