(Springfield, IL) — The University of Illinois and the state of Illinois are gearing-up to make a push for more defense spending. Leaders from both the school and the Lieutenant Governor’s office are due in Springfield later this morning to launch the Illinois Defense Network. They’re billing the network as a way for academics, researchers, defense experts, and government leaders to build on and expand Illinois’ state defense supply chain. The U of I says that supply chain is worth billions of dollars in Illinois, and employs nearly 100 thousand people.
