(Washington, DC) — The Quad Cities’ congresswoman isn’t a fan of allowing teachers to carry a gun inside their classrooms. Congresswoman Cheri Bustos last week said it’s a ‘terrible idea’ to put more guns in schools. The idea of arming teachers is getting more attention this month after President Trump suggested the idea following the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida. Bustos says not only would it be expensive to manage an armed teacher program, she says teachers would need hours of training that could take away from their focus on the classroom.
