Effingham, Il – A new audit says Illinois’ Medicaid managers didn’t do their job in tracking over seven billion-dollars in payments two years ago.
The report, released yesterday by Illinois’ auditor general, blasts the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services for not being able to justify all the payments made to all Illinois’ managed care organizations, for failing to tabulate the administrative costs for the program, as well as many other shortcomings.
Lawmakers say the report is troubling because Illinois is moving to expand managed care, and spend about 60 billion-dollars to do it.
