Effingham, Il (Via Urbana, IL) – The huge solar farm at the University of Illinois isn’t producing any power right now.
But some at the school want to expand the project as part of a sustainability initiative. The school’s Sustainability Council this week said conversations about expanding the 21 acre solar farm are in the ‘early stages.’
The hope is to make the entire U of I campus carbon neutral by 2050.
But the solar panels are offline, and have been since October, due to a broken transformer that has yet to be repaired.
