***PRESS RELEASE***
Effingham, Il (Via Clay County) – HealthChoice Illinois is the name of the newly expanded Medicaid managed care program in Illinois.
Beginning January 1, 2018, all counties will be part of HealthChoice Illinois.
Most Medicaid qualifying clients will be required to pick a managed care health plan for their Medicaid services.
Managed care is a kind of health insurance program.
When you enroll in managed care, you become a member of a Health Plan.
You will have five health plans to choose from if you live in Clay County.
The Health Plan you choose will offer you a full range of services while helping you coordinate your health care.
With this change, it’s important to understand that out of the five plans offered, Clay County Hospital and clinics will only be participating with three of the five.
Blue Cross, Meridian and Illinicare are the only three plans that Clay County Hospital has a contract with. ‘
This means that if a patient qualifies for Medicaid, and they are signed with one of the other two non-contracted plans, then you will not have insurance coverage at Clay County Hospital and Clinics.
You will be responsible and required to pay for any services out of pocket.
If a patient doesn’t select a plan, then one will be assigned to them through the HealthChoice Illinois program.
Should the assign plan be one of the other two not listed above, you would not be covered at Clay County Hospital and Clinics. To repeat, the three plans that Clay County Hospital is contracted with are Blue Cross, Meridian and Illinicare.
For more information, you can contact the business office at the hospital at (618) 662- 2131.
