Effingham, Il- Last night during the Effingham City Council meeting, City council moved to make some amendments to the new business district for the city.
The exterior boundary was changed, which ended up removing Meijer’s Mart from the district.
In section 2 of the amended plans the new regulation would allow the city to do any installations, repairs, construction, or any relocation of public streets, and utilities as long as they are essential, and in accordance with the business district plan.
Another important change that was stated during the meeting was that now business district revenues would now allow for revenue from the district to pay or cause to be paid for project costs.
Section 3 modified the estimated costs, but did not change the total costs of 11 million
The changes were made in order to allow for the business district to abide by the new Business District Development, and Redevelopment Law.
