(Chicago, IL) — A union prison guard says Illinois’ inability to pay its bills means there is a lot more homemade alcohol in the state’s prison. Guard Corey Knop told lawmakers yesterday that the company that used to sell drinks with just ten-percent juice to Illinois prisons quit because they hadn’t been paid. The new vendor is offering 100-percent juice, that with the right ingredients can be turned into hooch. Illinois Corrections officials aren’t commenting on the alleged increase in illegal alcohol, but did say they are working to keep Illinois’ prisons as safe as they can be.
