(Springfield, IL) — Illinois may have to start again with part of its Medicaid privatization plan. The state’s procurement office yesterday canceled a 12-and-a-half million-dollar contract with the consultant McKinsey & Company because state leaders did not send the contract out for bid. McKinsey is supposed to help Illinois move Medicaid patients into managed care, but the contract was flagged for a lack of transparency. Illinois’ Department of Healthcare and Family Services says it is still looking into what the cancellation means in terms of reforming Illinois’ massive government run healthcare system.
