Effingham, Il – Yesterday afternoon two vehicles were in an accident located on Route 40 Westbound ¾ mile east of Fayette County Rd 1125 E, Bluff City.
According to the press release published by the Illinois State Police (District 12), Danny Spencer Hurrenn, 40, of Vandalia was driving westbound on the roadway with passenger Beth A. Stroup, 33, of Vandalia behind Richard W Matlock, 50, of Effingham.
Hurrenn had his flashers on and an oscillating amber light on top of his vehicle while driving behind Matlock
Matlock slowed to a halt so as to deliver mail, and while slowly attempting to merge back into traffic was rear ended by Hurrenn on the driver’s side.
After first responders arrived on scene, Rural Med took Matlock to Fayette County Hospital for his injuries.
At the point of the accident Hurrenn was charged with Failure to Reduce Speed To Avoid an Accident.
