Effingham, Il – Hospice Southern Illinois offers a cancer support group called Compassionate Healing and Awareness of Thoughts (C.H.A.T.), facilitated by HSHS Hospice Southern Illinois Bereavement Counselor Maddie Johnson, MS, NCC, LPC. C.H.A.T. is a year-round, open enrollment group for those who have been diagnosed with and/or are undergoing treatment for cancer.
The goal is create a safe space of acceptance where each person can share experiences, questions, and concerns. This support group is offered free of charge and no reservation is required.
The group meets on a monthly basis in HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital’s Auditorium-St. Francis Room on the first Monday of every month from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The next session is scheduled for Monday, December 4.
Hospice services are provided at all the hospitals in the Southern Illinois Division of Hospital Sisters Health System, which also includes HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville, and HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.
