It wasn’t easy but Cumberland was able to defeat Decatur LSA 26-21 to advance to the next round. Cumberland got off to a slow start as they went three and out. Decatur LSA was then able to block the punt to take over on the Cumberland 10 yard line. Cumberland’s defense however made a big stand and forced Decatur to try for the field goal, however the snap was bobbled and Cumberland would make the stop. Cumberland then struck with a Ryan Yaw 2 yard and 50 yard touchdown run to make it 12-0 after the first quarter. Cumberland would add another touchdown thanks to Colton Scott on a 15 yard run. Decatur would came back and score on a 30 yard pass. Cumberland would end up scoring on a 50 yard touchdown from Gabe Hatfill to Tyson Magee to give Cumberland a 26-7 lead at the half. Decatur would score two touchdown, one in the third on a 16 yard pass and 20 yard pass in the fourth quarter. Decatur would get the ball back with just 1:10 left in the game. Cumberland’s defense would make a stop on 4th and 10 to force the turnover and win the game.
