Look for these new signs around the Clay County Hospital campus in Flora.
***PRESS RELEASE***
Flora, IL – Clay County Hospital and it’s clinics will be enforcing their tobacco free, no smoking policy starting November 16, 2017…the day of the “Great American Smokeout”.
Even though the hospital has technically had a no smoking policy, administration had taken a soft approach to enforcing it with patients, patient guests and even employees.
Recently, with a growing focus on wellness issues and the desire to reach out to the community with wellness information, it seemed counter productive to discuss wellness benefits and the efforts to improve the County population health and then to allow smoking on hospital property.
Starting November 16, anyone wishing to smoke must leave the hospital or clinics property.
Patients wishing to smoke will be required to sign a release form to leave hospital property.
Visitors will be asked to either put out their cigarette or leave the property.
Every effort will be made to help patients avoid smoking during their time at Clay County Hospital.
That includes providing nicotine patches and gum free of charge.
New signs are going up on the Flora hospital and clinic campus in the next few days.
