We have reports that Wade Fire Department in Newton has a hazardous materials tanker that has rolled over on Route 130 and Clayton Avenue. Please avoid the area and seek an alternate route as emergency crews are on scene.

UPDATE (11:45 a.m.; Vanessa Torres) : According to the Newton Press-Mentor in Newton, Ill, “because the hazmat spill the local police want people to avoid these areas:”
- Liberty and Wilson Street
- South to County Road 875 North
- East to Ochs Ave.
The Newton Press-Mentor also added that in accordance with police and hazmat, all major roads in the area are closed until it is cleaned up.
UPDATE (3:00 p.m.; Vanessa Torres) – According to the Jasper County Police Department, residents who had been evacuated from the area are now free to return to their homes.
