Most of our listening area is expected to see frost on the ground Thursdaymorning.
According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, the first frost of the season is expected early Thursday morning. They have issued a Frost Advisory for MACON, MOULTRIE, DOUGLAS, COLES, EDGAR, SHELBY, CUMBERLAND, CLARK, EFFINGHAM, JASPER, CRAWFORD, CLAY, RICHLAND, AND LAWRENCE counties from 4:00am to 8:00am on Thursday. A Frost Advisory means that sensitive vegetation left outside and uncovered could be damaged or killed by the frost.
While we may see a brief warmup of temperatures on Thursday, temps are expected to drop once again from a push of cold, Canadian air. Additionally, the National Weather Service says that the growing season will likely end this weekend with the first freeze of the season, as temps are expected to drop below freezing in most areas by Sunday.
