The Richland County High School was placed on lockdown shortly before Noon on Monday.
According to a Facebook post by the Olney Police Department, the school district was investigating a threat identified at the highschool and all buildings were placed on lockdown. According to the post, the school was working with the Olney PD, Richland County Sheriff’s Department, and the Illinois State Police during lockdown and officers were on site at each school. They also reported during the initial post that no injuries had occurred and students were safe.
At 12:32pm, the Olney PD updated their Facebook Page stating, “The Richland County High School has been released from lock down and back to normal activity”.
