The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12
Effingham, Ill – On October 16, at approximately 3:15 p.m. a pedestrian juvenile was hit in an intersection in Flora. According to the “Preliminary Investigative Details” released by the Illinois State Police, the unnamed juvenile pedestrian was seen walking a dog on West 3rd Street when the pedestrian lost control of the dog.
In the midst of following said dog, the pedestrian ran into oncoming traffic at the intersection of Elm, and West 3rd St.
60 year-old Robert Coyle was driving a 2012 Jeep when he saw the pedestrian.
It was confirmed that Coyle did try to avoid them, but could not do so in the short amount of time.
Coyle was not injured in the accident.
The unnamed pedestrian had sustained injuries, and there was no information regarding the dog.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
