Effingham, Ill – The Quarterly meeting was held this past Wednesday, October 10. During the meeting multiple financial issues were brought forth for the board to review before the upcoming fiscal year.
The Effingham Police Department is currently in the process of looking for new mobile units with Starcom Mobile. Police Chief, Jeff Fuesting, expressed concern to the board over insufficient units in patrol cars. Fuesting added it is a high safety concern to not have them.
On a financial standing, there would be a monthly cost of $32 a month per unit. However, as of right now the money is not there to support to purchase, but Fuesting shared the department is currently seeking a grant to cover the expense behind it.
In addition, the board unanimously passed a motion to purchase new training module software that would allow for newly hired telecommunication representatives to learn the basis of the positions. Additionally, the software would give current representatives the option to take refresher courses.
The software will cost $2,605 for the first year with the possibility of a 50% price drop in the following year.
