A Salem juvenile was injured in an accident that occurred on US 51 at County Road 900N in Shobonier at 4:59pm on Tuesday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, 22 year old, Bradin M Taylor, of Odin was traveling southbound on US 51 when a vehicle in front of Taylor’s slowed to turn left onto CR 900N. Taylor was unable to stop before striking the vehicle, so to avoid hitting the vehicle, Taylor left the roadway to the right and struck a culvert. The vehicle then crossed over CR 900N and went into the ditch, striking a utility pole. A juvenile passenger from Salem in Taylor’s vehicle was taken to Fayette County Hospital for treatment.
Taylor and the juvenile passenger was cited for failure to wear a seatbelt. Additionally, Taylor was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
