Two homes, a garage, and a car were damaged from a vehicle fire that occurred just after 6:00pm on Saturday.
According to a post on their Facebook Page, the Effingham Fire Department was called Saturday evening to a reported vehicle on fire at 306 W Eiche. While the Department was en route to the fire, dispatch advised the fire crews that the vehicle was next to a residence. The Fire Department then called for more fire trucks to respond. Upon arrival on scene, fire crews discovered a vehicle that was on fire with fire exposure to the residence, a detached garage, and the neighboring residence. After extinguishing the fire, the fire crews then used thermal imaging to determine if there was any hidden fires in the structures.
Abbott Ambulance was called to the scene to transport the occupant, Brittani Krietemeyer, to HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, where she was later released. The three structures sustained heat damage to the siding totaling an estimated $10,000. The vehicle was deemed a total loss, valued at an estimated $5,000. The cause of the fire was deemed as an electrical fire under the passenger electric seat.
The Effingham Fire Department was assisted on scene by Abbott Ambulance, Effingham Police Department, and Ameren.
