The Marshall Public Library has recalled the Solar Eclipse glasses they released to the public, from August 1st through August 12, 2017. It has been determined that they have the potential to be unsafe for the viewing of the upcoming Solar Eclipse. American Paper Optics was an authorized manufacturer of NASA glasses, however, the glasses purchased from this manufacturer, through Amazon, failed to meet certain mandatory safety requirements and are now being recalled nationwide.
Those who received Solar Eclipse glasses from The Marshall Public Library between the dates of August 1st-12th are being asked to dispose of the recalled glasses or return them to the library in exchange for a new pair. The new glasses are estimated to arrive Thursday, August 17th, and have been purchased directly from the manufacturer. To view recommended list of Solar Eclipse eyewear manufacturers please visit the library for a complete listing.
The Solar Eclipse program on Monday, August 21st from 12:30-2:30 PM is still scheduled to take place. Those who would like to participate in the program, but would prefer to watch the eclipse on television, the library will have NASA streaming live in the Dale McConchie meeting room along with trivia and refreshments.
Registration is not required for this free program. For any further questions you may call the library at 217-826-2535, or visit them at www.marshallillibrary.com. The library is located at 612 Archer Avenue, in Marshall, Illinois.
