Two people received minor injuries in an accident that occurred on I-70 eastbound, two miles west of Montrose, at 12:34pm on Sunday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, at the time of the accident traffic was slowed to merge to one lane for construction east of Montrose. 27 year old, Mathew Simmers, of Warsaw, Ohio was traveling behind 40 year old, Kasey Duffens-Carraher, of Cincinnati, Ohio in the passing lane. Simmers was unable to slow down in time and rear-ended Duffens-Carraher’s vehicle. Duffens-Carraher was taken to HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment. Duffens-Carraher’s passenger, 18 year old, Keegan Duffens, of Cincinnati, Ohio refused treatment from the ambulance and drove to HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment. They were released with minor injuries.
Mathew Simmers was ticketed for failure to reduce speed.
