(Springfield, IL) — Illinois lawmakers are moving forward with a bill that would create a new grant program for college students in the state. The House approved a measure yesterday that would provide certain full-time students at Illinois public universities or community colleges a yearly grant of up to four-thousand dollars if they maintain a “B” average. Supporters say the proposal is intended to encourage students to attend college in the state. The bill must now pass the state Senate.
