Two people were injured in an accident that occurred at the intersection of Illinois Route 37 and Illinois Route 161 in Marion County on Tuesday morning.
According to a report by the Illinois State Police, shortly before 11:00am, 24 year old, Raygena Sweet, of Centralia had stopped on IL Route 161 at the intersection of IL Route 37. At the same time, 58 year old, George Linder, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee was traveling southbound on Route 37. As Sweet began to turn left onto Route 37, Linder failed to stop at the stop sign for this intersection. Linder struck Sweet on her rear driver’s side. Sweet’s passenger, 85 year old, Audrey White, of Kell was transported to Salem Township Hospital for treatment by Marion County EMS. Sweet drove herself to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.
George Linder is being charged with disobeying a traffic control device.
